I will have my PhD conferred while at AOM and as a recent doctoral student who had a lot happen during my PhD journey- I would love to share how I made it out the other side still standing.  Many of my colleagues have commented, "I don't know how you did it..."

Just to give a little insight, I had a major catastrophe my last semester of my doctoral coursework, then, my husband experienced a major stroke which left him unable to walk or effectively care for himself for several months, and we had to temporarily move cities for rehab, on top of that, we had a young daughter and I worked full time.  Over the course of 5 years... it was touch and go...
In short, for the majority of my program, I was all about self-care... would love to help!

    Hi Elva,

Thanks for responding! I hope you can make it to one or both of those PDWs - your insight would be valuable.

For the sake of keeping the conversation going on here, are there any particular things you did to take care of yourself while you were working through some of the things you noted?

I consistently tried to make sure I was doing some form of exercise: yoga and walking are my favorites. Even when I didn't want to do them, I worked hard to include them in my schedule. I believe it has made (and continues to make a big difference).
