Humanistic Professionals Lunch & Learn: Evidence-based practice to make better decisions

When:  Mar 22, 2019 from 12:00 to 13:00 (ET)

How can evidence-based practice can help managers and organizations make more-informed decisions?

While most professionals use evidence, evidence-based practice emphasizes paying careful attention to the quality of evidence and the interpretation of information so only the best evidence is used and searching for evidence across multiple sources rather than just one or two. Evidence-based practice in management and HR involves asking questions using a six step approach and collecting evidence from four sources: Scientific literature; internal organizational data; stakeholders values and concerns (including ethical values and concerns); practitioners’ professional expertise. Hence this approach combines many different sources of evidence and focuses on the best available evidence allowing organizations to exercise due diligence and to take more effective decisions. Evidence-based practice has increasingly been adopted in a wide range of professions such as medicine, policing, policy-making, social work and education.
