This PDW will discuss the need for higher-level wisdom when seeking guidance for making decisions beyond the complexity of defined process approaches. Rational approaches to management decision making use logical, well-defined processes that follow "scalable, systematic approaches to making strategic, operational, and tactical decisions across the organization." (Kepner & Tregoe, 1981). Although these approaches have proven effective in results oriented processes when considering the facts around a decision, key insights and information is missing in any process where optimum decision outcomes may not occur. In today's challenging times, further insight and wisdom is needed.
In this session, participants of academic researchers and practitioners will discuss real-life cases to explain how the use of higher-level intelligence and interventions unmask details that are not typically available at the personal level and therefore may not considered in rational decision-making processes. We therefore propose the need to consider approaches with indications of spiritual intelligence which in turn provide access to higher level insights. Panel participants will discuss how this practice conflicts with the current understanding of spirituality in the workplace and provides a view into decision-making as a joint effort that includes guidance at the spiritual level. Panel participants will provide support within the context of their work and discuss approaches to identifying spiritual guidance beyond the spatiotemporal limitations of bounded rationality in decision making processes. A key takeaway for attendees will be the opportunity to participate in a problem-solving session that will provide guidance and enlightenment to address both business and personal challenges encountered in everyday life.
