This panel symposium takes building and understanding inclusive organizations to the system level, framing the discussion around system transformation. Emergent understandings about systemic complexity and the 'wickedness' of problems in system change argue for inclusivity in breadth of disciplines, scholarly concerns, sectors, and geographies. It is insufficient to focus only on the organizational level of analysis; broad, engaged interdisciplinary approaches are needed to help define, articulate, and study the many issues facing the world. Co-organizer Ian Mitroff will explain Type III Errors, solving the wrong problem exactly, in the context of the need for system change, particularly in building inclusive organizations that potentially harm the system. Co-organizer Sandra Waddock will argue that a new narrative is needed to challenge today's dominant economic narrative, one focused on inclusion of diverse peoples, places, and types of organizations. Steve Waddell (founder of the SDG Transformations Forum) argues that transformational change and action is what is needed today and illustrate how transformation systems-systems that enhance transformation-can be developed. Raj Sisodia (co-founder of Conscious Capitalism) discusses building an inclusive world that elevates capitalism itself to a broader and more inclusive vision. Gerald C. (Jerry) Davis (Associate Dean for Business+Impact, Michigan) emphasizes necessary changes in academic scholarship and teaching from the perspective of the Responsible Research in Business and Management initiative. Otto Scharmer (founder of the Presencing Institute) claims that building an inclusive world requires a new approach to organizing that transforms mindsets from silo- to systems views, from ego- to e-system awareness.
