    Organizer: Payal Kumar

Participants:  Fevzi Okumus, Dimitrios Diamantis, K Thirumaran, Peter Bamberger, Diana Bilimoria, Hamid Kazeroony and Frankie J. Weinberg

There has been an increasing amount of interest in the domain of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) research. Be it doctoral courses in premium institutes such as Cornell University, HK PolyU, Oxford Brookes University, University of Surrey and HEC Lausanne, or the presence of elite ABDC A* journals linked to this domain, or a wide circulation of scholarly books catering to contemporary topics such as eco-tourism, solo travel by women, wellness and sustainability. All of these highlight the significance and potential impact of the domain.

However, HTM research doesn't have a dedicated place in AOM. There are regular AOM submissions from HTM scholars, as can be seen from these publications in the Academy of Management Proceedings: (Kipinski, Ferasso, Beliaeva, Kraus, and Kallmuenzer, 2025; Al-Muhannadi, Gagliardi, and Ramlogan 2024; Hendy and Montargot 2024; and Dai, Xiao, Zhang, Xiu, and Liao, 2025). Yet scholars are compelled to co-create with other divisions such as OB, HR, STR, ENT, MED, and SIM, while core research areas namely service ecosystems, experience design, labour dynamics in hospitality, and sustainable and tourism, are not captured by a single division. HTM scholars remain an underrepresented scholarly community that has no 'home' as such for their research work in the AOM.

This caucus invites leading scholars from across disciplines to discuss i. the need for theoretical repositioning of HTM research and ii. ways in which to create pathways for strengthening HTM visibility and academic legitimacy within the Academy. No registration is required. We look forward to seeing you there.
