    Executive Director

Established in 2004 and located within the Sobey School of Business at
Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Centre for Spirituality
and the Workplace is the first academic-based centre for spirituality and
the workplace in Canada. Since its beginning, the Centre has positively
influenced the conversation and accomplishments about spirituality and the workplace
globally. We are now seeking an Executive Director to lead us to the next level.

Reporting to an established and well-connected Board of Directors, the key aspect of your
job involves establishing relationships within the business, health care, government and
academic communities. It also involves raising the awareness, understanding and benefits
of spirituality within the workplace. The issues cover a wide range of areas including:
purposeful work, ethics, meaning, religion and spirituality.

Activities will entail, among other things, coordinating thought-provoking conferences and
workshops, fundraising, and initiating various communication and engagement initiatives
designed to increase the appreciation of spirituality in the workplace. You will work closely
with faculty and graduate students in an academic setting. To be successful in this role, you
must liase regularly with all stakeholders, including corporate groups, government officials,
donors, academics, students, universities, and other like-minded communities locally,
    nationally and internationally.

As the ideal candidate, you are an established leader within business or government
and possess well-developed networks and relationships. You have well-honed expertise
in relationship management, program delivery, fundraising, communication, and
administration. Strength in media relations would also be an asset. Personally, you possess
integrity, compassion for others, thoughtfulness, respect for diversity, and a collaborative
approach to everything you do. You have engaged in a spiritual or religious practice of your
own and are comfortable with a variety of other spiritual and religious practices. You have
the ability to work on your own, within a strategic framework. You appreciate spirituality, not
as converting others, but as inquiry and deepening. For further information on the Centre

This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant contribution to the spiritual well-being
and growth of others. If you would like to speak about the role further, please merge your resume and
cover letter into a single MS Word document (quoting project 1383W in the subject line) and
forward by email to apply@geraldwalsh.com, or by mail to Gerald Walsh Associates Inc.,
2020-1801 Hollis Street, Halifax, NS, Canada. B3J 3N4.
