    Below is a description of a PDW session scheduled for this Saturday morning that you may wish to attend:

    Using Somatic Awareness in Consulting and Learning
    Saturday, August 04, 2007,  9:00:00 AM - 10:30:00 AM
    Loews Philadelphia, Congress A

    Kathryn Goldman Schuyler; Alliant International U. / Coherent Change;
    Judy Hochberg; Consulting for Change and Development.;

    Discussant: Gerald Biberman; U. of Scranton;

    The presenters in this session approach individual and organizational change from a somatic perspective: the understanding that all learning and action take place only in our very human bodies. As yet, few scholars and practitioners have brought this into the practice of organizational consulting, although entire graduate programs have been developed that focus on somatics from a psychological perspective. This PDW provides a combination of research-based information, experiential learning, and discussion. The workshop will allow participants to experience how somatic experiences help consultants and professors to develop new ways of thinking about change. It will provide research-based information on the importance of such somatically-based learning, include managers' and consultants' experiences in applying this in their work, give participants a taste of such somatic learning, and invite participants to generate possible applications in their own arenas of practice. Expect to leave relaxed and invigorated, as well as thoughtful.
