Caucus on Embodied Awareness and Leadership

    Hi Kay and Mark,

What a good idea!  I support the caucus and hope I'll be able to attend.

Susan Skjei and I will be offering a PDW sponsored by MSR related to this topic, probably on Saturday morning, entitled "Moments of Waking Up: Embodiment, Reflection, and Action in Consulting, Teaching, and Research".  The focus will be on the implications of our mindfulness practices for our own work: consulting, coaching, teaching, leading – the things we who attend the academy do.  We'll explore how we can use these to help us wake up.  In addition to being experiential, this year we plan to develop collaborative research that all who wish to can participate in over the subsequent year, leading to an article on the impact of such awareness practices on our own consulting, coaching, and teaching.   Perhaps we can link your caucus and our session in some ways?  I'm guessing that both will attract many of the same people.   Perhaps we can use the number of somewhat related sessions, if the Academy approves your caucus and Patton's, to generate some worthwhile collaborative research among us all.  What fun that would be!

I can do this now, but perhaps we might get a dialogue going in April or so to think together about how we might structure such a collaborative project.  I have some ideas, but am quite open as to how to do it.  Perhaps we can create a place for such a dialogue on AOM connect, as a forum or something.
