As Communications Rep-At-Large, I want to assure you that there is nothing at all to be concerned about.  We are delighted to be hearing how much you value the meditation sessions and all view practice as an integral part of who we are and what we do.   We have always planned to continue the morning meditations.

Our purpose, as always, is "to encourage the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge about the relationship between management, spirituality, and religion. We aim to create greater awareness of the nature and value of such research in the Academy and in organizations."  In fostering research, I for one, (and I think all of my colleagues on the executive committee as well) know the necessity of awareness practices of all types, from meditation, to contemplation, somatic practices, and, for some people, sports or theater improv.  We will continue to bring as rich and diverse a program of workshops, meditation sessions, papers, and networking to the conference as we can, given the time limitations that exist there.

Our quality of functioning depends on the volunteer services of members who are willing to contribute time and thought over the course of the year.  You have two days before the nominations close, so take a look at the descriptions of the open positions and consider nominating someone whom you know to be qualified for any of the open positions.  The Nominating Committee will review all possible candidates and develop a slate to be voted on this spring.
