The OBTC Doctoral Institute A Priceless Gift for Your Doctoral Students
and ABDs
Do your favorite doctoral students and ABD faculty a big favor steer them
on to the Doctoral Institute (DI) at the Organizational Behavior Teaching
Conference (OBTC). The DI will be held June 9-11, 2008 at Babson College
(Wellesley, MA - just outside of Boston), with the full OBTConference to
follow, June 11-14. The intensive two-day DI experience is focused on
students developing skills to balance the demands of teaching, research, and
their personal lives. The 2008 DI will feature Drs. Richard Boyatzis of
Case Western, Amy Edmondson of Harvard, and Denise Rousseau of Carnegie
Mellon. The sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Tim Peterson of Texas A&M
with mentorship for students provided by Dr. Amy Kenworthy-URen of Bond U.

Past participants have formed a lasting network of colleagues through the DI
and have left the conference immensely gratified.
I hope you will pass along the link to this priceless experience that will
help later-stage doctoral students and current ABD faculty at your
institution to launch successful careers. Better yet, arrange for your
school to pay or contribute to their tuition, which covers all costs to both
the Institute and the four-day OBTConference itself, one of the oldest and
most valuable forums for management pedagogy in the world. You can check
out the 2008 Conference website at
www.obtc.org.
I hope Ill see you there too! Once again, the DI is June 9-11 and the
OBTConference follows on June 11-14.
My best wishes for a prosperous, learning-filled 2008.
Magid Mazen, Ph.D.
Chairperson
Doctoral Institute Committee
OBTS The Teaching Society for Management Educators
P.S. All DI participants become presenters of a self-designed workshop at
the conference later in the week. This may encourage your schools keeper
of development funds to underwrite the event.
