2008 Management, Spirituality & Religion Interest Group Retreat
August 13-15
San Luis Rey Retreat Center
Oceanside, CA
Every August immediately following the Academy of Management conference,
the Management, Spirituality and Religion interest group of the Academy
of Management hosts a three day spiritual retreat. Each year, the
retreat begins Wednesday afternoon, after the AOM conference ends, and
continues to Friday afternoon. The retreat consists of a variety of
reflective exercises and healing modalities offered by those who attend
the retreat as well as local leaders. Past sessions have included: early
mornings of tai chi, guided meditations and visualizations, metta
mediation, chanting, nature walks, and body and energy instruction such
as meridian point tapping or acupressure. The MSR retreat welcomes
people of all religious and spiritual beliefs, and is open to any interested
persons. The retreat provides participants an opportunity to rest from a
hectic schedule, to reflect on life and professional priorities coming
up, to learn some helpful techniques that can be used at home, and to
deepen one’s spiritual growth.
The 2008 annual MSR retreat will be held following the Academy of
Management meeting at the Old Mission San Luis Rey Retreat Center in
Oceanside, CA from Wednesday August 13 to Friday August 15, 2008. For
pictures and more information about the center, you can check out the
retreat center’s web site at
www.sanluisrey.org. Train service is
available from Anaheim (Coaster, Metro and Amtrak) to Oceanside. The
train departs at the Oceanside Transit Center where you can take a cab
or bus to the Mission.
Cost for the retreat will be $240 per person, including lodging and meals.
BECAUSE SPACE AT THE RETREAT CENTER IS LIMITED, please 1) email me to
confirm that you will be attending, and 2) mail me your completed
registration form and accompanying deposit check for $240 made out to
the Academy of Management as soon as possible (but no later than May 31,
1008) if you wish to attend. The Registration Form and instructions
follow this letter.
