Have a few questions?  Editor Kathryn Goldman Schuyler will hold two open conference calls, timed to work across time zones around the world:
    - Thursday May 8, noon EDT.
    - Thursday, May 15, 10 pm EDT.
For more information, including the phone number, see http://www.ila-net.org/Publications/BLB/CallforSubmissions.htm

How do people lead communities, organizations, and societies toward sustainable health?  What do we mean when we say "a healthy organization," and how do such organizations contribute to societal and planetary health?  How do leaders generate a way of being with people that fosters creativity and openness to change?  How do governmental organizations contribute to such an emerging reality?  How do we develop platforms for collaboration across institutions and cultures, since the problems we face seem intractable to solutions within those institutions? This book, nourished by decades of research and writing on healthy organizations by thought leaders such as Chris Argyris (1958, 1964), Ed Schein (2000), and Peter Frost (1999, 2001) aims to address such questions.

The ILA's 2016 BLB volume will address the role of leadership in catalyzing and influencing collective action in reshaping systems so as to generate macro-societal shifts towards a healthier world.  It will encourage exploration of systemic change related to societal health and global sustainability at all levels-intrapersonal, interpersonal, team, organizational, and societal.  We invite chapters that examine how conscious, intelligent, and compassionate leadership can foster the relationships, processes, and structures conducive to a healthy world.

We are very interested in action research on attempts to scale change across institutions and cultures.  We seek chapters that address current work to develop global indicators of progress and even happiness at the regional, state, and national levels, as well as stories or studies of organizational change and transformation.  We anticipate offering perspectives on all types of leaders, from youth leaders to corporate executives to governmental and military leaders-if they have contributed substantively to shifts toward a healthy world.

    Areas for Submission

Examples of change toward sustainable organizational and societal health
How the inner development of leaders contributes to producing healthy organizations and societal health
    Relationships, communication, and healthy leadership
Presencing as a path towards macro change

    Boundary crossing
Preliminary acceptance will be based on proposals (announced August 10, 2014), after which the authors will fully develop their chapters with input from the editorial team (full manuscript due March 30th, 2015).  Download the full CFP for complete information. Please send proposals electronically as a WORD DOCUMENT to ILA c/o Debra DeRuyver at dderuyver@ila-net.org on or before June 20, 2014.
