    Dear Colleagues,

The Management, Spirituality and Religion Interest Group cordially invites the AOM community-especially doctoral students and new faculty-to attend our All Academy Professional Development Workshop (PDW).

    Purpose

The primary aim of this PDW is to provide practical advice for those seeking to conduct research about how spiritual and religious traditions interface with organizational settings and implications for managerial practice.  For doctoral students this includes receiving feedback around research proposals, and for new faculty it provides a rich setting for feedback and personal advice.  Another purpose is to facilitate formation of more personal and professional relationships within our community.  We aspire that each participant will form lasting relationships as a result of having attended the program.    Though always a priority, this year a special process we call, "Making Connections" will be used to facilitate this process.

    Program

This year's program unfolds over two days.  On Friday, we meet for 2 hours in the evening (5:00-7:00PM).  Our Keynote speaker, Rev John Huntington, of Georgetown University, will speak on a topic at the intersection of "Green Matters" and the responsibility for "Global Stewardship that emerges from Faith Traditions."  Dr Huntington currently serves at Georgetown's Arrupe Institute with responsibility for the Social Ethics in Business program.  Following his presentation plan on joining a fellow participant for dinner (self-paid) as part of our "Connections Exercise."  Our exercise will align participants with mutual interests for further conversations at dinner!  Though optional, this opportunity-and several like it-are at the core of our attempt to assist participants in deepening personal and potential collaborative relationships during the consortium.

On Saturday we will meet for a "Connections" lunch based on coordination completed on Friday before we departed (again optional).  At 2:00 we meet collectively and begin our traditional program.  The program will include an MSR Panel focused on "Where we are and what's on the horizon for MSR," an invited presentation by Andre Delbecq, and a number of Roundtable discussions organized around topics we've found over the years to be of interest and value to participants.

    Registration and Venue.

Pre-registration for the workshop is required to assist us in planning.  A nominal charge is charged to underwrite our costs.  Registration is $25.00.   Registration by 1 June is appreciated-the deadline is July 10, 2009By registering for the Friday sessions, you are automatically enrolled for the Saturday sessions as well.   Friday sessions (7th August) occur from 5:00-7:00PM (Columbus KL Room) and Saturday, August 8th from 2:20-7:00PM (Wrigley Room) at the Hyatt Regency hotelPlease complete your registration by going to: http://secure.aomonline.org/pdwreg/logon.asp  (note that conference registration must be completed before the system will allow PDW registration.)
