    Hello All,

Can anyone recommend articles/books which discuss how spirituality
(either one’s own sense of spirituality or being in a more spiritual
oriented organization/organizational climate) may be related to
    improved personal health or wellness?

I would also be interested in studies that have linked spirituality to
reduced work stress which in turn is linked to better health.

If you send your ideas directly to me at jmillima@uccs.edu I would be
happy to summarize all of possible cites in an email back to this
    listserv.

I have listed some articles below which have been mentioned in
previous posts which appear to link spirituality to work stress.

    Thanks much,

    Hello,

The following article of mine presents results of a study using spiritual
intervention in burnout among industry professionals labeled as 'executive
    burnout'.

"There is much suffering in the world - physical, material, mental. The suffering of some can be blamed on the greed of others. The material and physical suffering is suffering from hunger, from homelessness, from all kinds of diseases. But the greatest suffering is being lonely, feeling unloved, having no one. I have come more and more to realize that it is being unwanted that is the worst disease that any human being can ever experience."

    John,
I'm sure you know this already, but I'd look in two places that are
often overlooked: the TM (Transcendental Meditation) literature and
Deepak Chopra's books and articles. The TM folks have been getting
some NIH and other grants in recent years for finding links of
meditation practice with cardiovascular health, diabetes, and
obesity. I think they've also found links with ADD. Certainly they
have lots of research on self-actualization and self-development. See
http://www.tm.org/research for a start on that stream. Although
Deepak Chopra doesn't usually write academic material, with lots of
references, I would think a lot of his work points people in good
    directions.

    Hi John,

    Ditto on Bob's recommendations.

Also, ask Carol Puchalski at George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health (GWISH) to post your request. Also, folks at the Society for Spirituality and Social Work (SSSW) are similarly very kind in posting inquiries and sharing information.

I do not have ready-access to the email addresses at the moment, but they shouldn't be hard to find.

    Ciao for now.

“There is much suffering in the world - physical, material, mental. The
suffering of some can be blamed on the greed of others. The material and
physical suffering is suffering from hunger, from homelessness, from all
kinds of diseases. But the greatest suffering is being lonely, feeling
unloved, having no one. I have come more and more to realize that it is
being unwanted that is the worst disease that any human being can ever
    experience.”

Subject: Articles Request - Spirituality and Health

    Hello All,

Can anyone recommend articles/books which discuss how spirituality
(either one's own sense of spirituality or being in a more spiritual
oriented organization/organizational climate) may be related to
    improved personal health or wellness?

I would also be interested in studies that have linked spirituality to
reduced work stress which in turn is linked to better health.

If you send your ideas directly to me at jmillima@uccs.edu I would be
happy to summarize all of possible cites in an email back to this
    listserv.

I have listed some articles below which have been mentioned in
previous posts which appear to link spirituality to work stress.

    Thanks much,
