    Program Session #: 226
    Submission: 10562
Sponsor(s): (MSR, ODC, SIM, HR, OCIS, NDSC, MOC, IM, CM, IAM, MH)
Scheduled: Saturday, Aug 8 2009, 10:40AM - 12:10PM at Hyatt Regency Chicago in Ogden

Technology enablers coupled with a trend toward fostering more social interaction in organizations are giving the concept of connection new character and meaning. This session will present applied insights and practices that can help pracademics leverage the power of social media within organizations to foster development, revitalize energy, spur innovation, stimulate learning, embrace diversity, and evoke a greater appreciation of flow in complex adaptive systems. We will explore linkages of social networking phenomena and related technologies to spirit-centered leadership, or harnessing the energy and passion of employees in the global workplace. Attendees will also engage in interactive learning that collectively yields new insights about the value of social media within organizations and solutions that can inform current and future practice. Cross-cultural dynamics will be examined as well as implications of social media and complexity in creating more sustainable futures where organizations and leaders are equally concerned with human, social, financial, spiritual, and environmental capital.
