    Dear Colleague,

You are cordially invited to attend two special sessions sponsored by MSR during our upcoming conference in Boston:

    1.      Our annual MSR THEME SESSION on Sunday, August 5, 1-3pm in Sheraton Fairfax B [session 13857]

This year, we are pleased to present the first-ever Distinguished Service Award for meritorious scholarship and leadership in the advancement of MSR. Our award recipient will be announced in Boston, so be sure to attend this session to find out who it is!

We are also pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Martin Rutte, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board at the Centre for Spirituality and the Workplace, Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Canada, and president of Livelihood, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Martin traverses the globe exploring the deeper meaning of spirituality in the workplace and its contribution to society, advising organizations and executives in many leading international corporations. His message has transformed audiences ranging from Canada to Brazil, and from Germany to New Zealand. Mr. Rutte is co-author of the New York Times business bestseller, Chicken Soup for the Soul at Work. He is also currently engaged in an inquiry about what comes after spirituality and work, namely, Heaven on Earth. During this session, Martin will speak on MSR: Playing Big and Going Global, sharing observations from his early involvement in the field's development, thoughts about MSR's current status, and insights into our future ahead!

    2.      Our jointly sponsored PDW with TIM (Technology and Innovation Management) on Innovative Technology, Intuition, and Spirituality in the Informal Economy on Friday, August 3, 8-10am in the Hynes Convention Center, Room 209 [session 10575]

During this session, we will hear from several MSR and TIM colleagues as well as Steve Goveia, Corporate Vice President, Tectura, the world's largest Microsoft enterprise solutions provider. As former CAO of Sega and a Bluetooth pioneer, Steve has worked side-by-side with many of Silicon Valley's technology icons, including Larry Ellison, who founded Oracle, and venture capitalist, Tim Draper, creator of "viral marketing" and an early underwriter of Skype. In this session, we will collectively explore the role of intuition and spirituality in the development of innovative technology at major corporations such as Apple and Microsoft. We will also discuss influences of intuition and spirituality on technology leaders, such as Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Bill Gates, incorporating the challenge that Academy President James Walsh issued during his 2011 address to "live our lives differently" and make this truly a Golden Age.

Please, add both of these sessions to your schedule, which promise to be exceptionally exciting and stimulating experiences! See you in Boston!

    Warm regards,

    Arthur L. Jue

    2012 Chair, MSR Interest Group
