  • 1.  Mindfulness Meditation Caucus at the Academy of Management

    Posted 12-29-2009 21:36
    Hi

I would like to convene a caucus at the Academy of Management this summer in Montreal. The topic is Mindfulness Meditation in the Workplace and Classroom. I'm including the term "meditation" in the caucus name because I want to make it clear that I'm referring to mindfulness in the way it is used in the stream of research that started with Jon Kabat-Zinn (what Weick calls Eastern Mindfulness), not in the way it is used in the stream of research started by Ellen Langer (what Weick calls Western Mindfulness). Anyway, I need to include the names of at least five other members of the Academy of Management in order to hold a caucus meeting. If you are a member and would be willing to be listed, please let me know.

Sounds very interesting, but what's going to be the purpose of the caucus?

    Hi Don,

I would be happy to have my name included if it doesn't affect the rule of 3.  I already have two panel submissions and am working on a paper submission.

Either way, I would love to attend as a participant and talk about the issues of teaching mindfulness meditation in a bible belt university.
