    Dear colleagues,
After a conversation with Cathy Driscoll and Margaret McKee of St Mary's University this week, I've been wondering if Staples' claim to be an organization with soul (see http://www.staples.com/sbd/content/about/soul/) is unique. Are there any other organizations that anyone is aware of also purporting to be soulful in such an explicit way?
Thanks in anticipation, all good wishes, scott

    Dear Professor Scott Taylor,

I´m sorry if I´m not very familiar with the concept of 'organization with soul', but when I read your e-mail, I immediately thought of one organization in Brazil.
It might not be so explicit as Stapple, but if you are seeking for case studies, it might be very interesting.
The name of the organization is Venturas e Aventuras (www.venturas.com.br), and it works with ecotourism. It is very well know in Brazil. If this matches what you are looking for, and you need further contacts or details, please just let me know.

Not sure whether it's relevant, but if you are not familiar with Mitroff and Denton's Spiritual Audit of Corporate America, you may find it useful.

    Hi Scott

Not sure about organizations as such but there are some books and
consultants that claim to help organizations use or get their soul
    including...

http://www.holacracy.org/ - Consultancy - "liberating the soul of
    organizations"

http://www.soulofanorganization.com/ - Book - "to show you how your
values, and not your business practices, are what drive your success"

    http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.authors/699951/descript
ion#description - Book - Liberating the Corporate Soul

    http://www.jstor.org/pss/2635311 - journal article - Mirvis, P.H.
(1997). "Soul work" in organizations. Organization Science, 8, 2 -

You might already be aware of all this stuff...

    Scott,

Likewise, I list dozens of companies in my book, God at Work: The History and Promise of the Faith at Work Movement (Oxford Univ. Press, 2007), who in various ways embrace spirituality at work and who are faith-friendly.

    best,

    Hi Scott,
Oasis Human Relations http://www.oasishumanrelations.org.uk/  is the one I have come across, During my research, I attended board meetings and interviewed members of the organisation and they seem to be working with 'soul' related principles.  They also have 'explicit' statements about the principles with which they work.

    Subject: Organizations with soul

    Dear colleagues,
After a conversation with Cathy Driscoll and Margaret McKee of St Mary's University this week, I've been wondering if Staples' claim to be an organization with soul (see http://www.staples.com/sbd/content/about/soul/) is unique. Are there any other organizations that anyone is aware of also purporting to be soulful in such an explicit way?
Thanks in anticipation, all good wishes, scott
