    Dear MSR Members and Leaders,

My name is Woodrow Lucas and I am a former PHD student at Vanderbilt in Organizational Studies.  Unfortunately, management scholarship did not ultimately prove to be my final career destination.

In any event, I am starting a consulting firm called "Still Standing Consulting."  It has a spirituality component and so I thought that it is at least tacitly relevant to this group. It also has a justice advocacy component which I thought might also interest this group.

I am in search of the following:

    1) A potential partner who is extremely versed in finance and accounting
    2) Possible Behavioral Clients of whom you may be aware
    3) Some feedback concerning your business sense of the "blurb's" (Soon hoping for it to become a Business Plan's) weaknesses and strengths.

Thank you for the work that you are doing in creating knowledge that embraces the spirit and humanity of business.

    Sincerely,

Woodrow Lucas (The blurb is below)

    To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Woodrow Lucas and I am interested in starting either a 501-C3 or an LLC consulting organization surrounding the improvement of community based over and against institutional mechanisms of mental health recovery.  I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder in 2001 and have gone on to obtain an MBA and MTS, publish four major publications, financially contribute to a family of four, motivationally speak at venues across the country, remain happily married for thirteen years, and remain off of disability insurance for the entire tenure of the illness.  In my 10 year experience with the mental health system the single most pressing deficit in said system is the lack of "consumer directed care" in the systems, attitudes, and clinical philosophies of community based mental health organizations.

"Still Standing Consulting" which is my proposed nomenclature for the initiative, instead of attempting to reinvent yet another non-for-profit or social entrepreneurial wheel, would endeavor to address deficits, enhance strengths, increase efficiency, and ultimately improve recovery results for already existing Community Based Organizations which engage in mental health.

"Still Standing Consulting" would offer 5 core services to already existing advocacy and recovery organizations such as Mental Health Cooperative, Park Center, Adanta, Parish Nurse Ministries, and Center Stone to name a few and to insurance companies that cover behavioral health so as to improve their coverage and decrease their risk through improving the health of their member population.  These services are:

    1)       Motivational Speaking at Seminars, Retreats, Summits, and Organizational Conferences which reinforce the need for "Consumer directed care," and inspire clinicians and administrators to operate in more empathic, empowering, and strengths based approaches toward "client service delivery."

    2)       Work with upper level administrators within organizations to improve operational efficiency through automation, enhanced organizational intelligence communication, internal marketing of paradigmatic shifts, and alignment of standards with agencies such as SAMHSA.

    3)       One on one coaching with clinicians and clients on how to maximize recovery outcomes.

    4)       Helping organizations to explore the role of "spirituality" in recovery.

    5)       Helping organizations to move beyond recovery halting dichotomies between biological and trauma explanations of mental dysfunction.

I am requesting any advice or assistance that you can provide.

I can be contacted at woodrow.lucas@gmail.com or at 615-810-6755

    Sincerely,

    Woodrow Odom Lucas
