Dear colleagues,
Reading this recently published paper,
The India Way: Lessons for the U.S., by Peter Cappelli, Harbir Singh, Jitendra Singh, and Michael Useem, Academy of Management Perspectives May 2010
I was struck by the significance of religious belief in the managerial/organizational practices described - yet there is only one mention of religion [in a footnote, hmm], one passing reference to belief, and no mention whatsoever of spirituality. The authors do give some credit to the idea of culture, though. I'm a little puzzled by this and don't quite know what to make of it - does anyone have a sense of why the authors chose this approach?
Best wishes, scott
