SLaM Conference 2011
Call for papers
The 8th international Spirituality, Leadership and Management (SLaM) Conference will be held at the St Joseph's Retreat Centre Baulkham Hills, Sydney, Australia from 8 – 11 September 2011. Plans are underway for an exciting conference with keynote speakers, engaging workshops, papers, panels, theatre, creative experiences, social events and opportunities to reflect.
Spirituality, Leadership and Management Inc (NSW) is organising the conference as part of the SLaM Movement. SLaM explores how spirituality informs and enlivens our work (without doctrine or dogma). SLaM is committed to enabling people and organisations to function with integrity, creativity and care, so that our emerging world is a desirable place to be.
The topic for the 8th conference is the cultivation and practice of wisdom in management and leadership.
Our working title: The Business of Wisdom.
We believe that our local and global situations demand purposeful reflection and a call to action that goes beyond conventional and current business practices. The conference team offers the following questions as an initial guide to exploring our conference theme:
How can the wisdom traditions and practices inform how we do business in the corporate arena and the non profit sectors?
How could conscious business practices better contribute to the enhancement of society?
What are the particular pains and paradoxes of this time that we need to address?
What is being called for in our current evolution as individuals, organisations, social environments, cultures and ecologies of which we are a part?
How does a spiritual orientation in business and across business, organizations and communities appear?
What is the promise of transformation in leadership?
What is the role of leaders, managers and all organizational members in supporting transformation in how work is envisioned and executed?
As you consider the conference topic, what questions emerge for you?
Our past conferences have been described as deeply engaging, thought-provoking and reflective learning experiences. An important enabler of this outcome has been the generosity of contributors who have offered to lead a workshop or present a paper – sharing their perspectives or a case study about an aspect of the overall conference theme.
We invite you to submit your proposal to make a presentation.
Guidelines for Presentations
