#10668: Professional Development Workshop Proposal – AoM 2012 Boston.
Full Title: Spirituality at the Workplace: Paving the Way for an International Community of Inquiry.
Short Title: Spirituality at the Workplace
Sponsor: MSR (Primary), International Theme and Practice Theme Committees (Other)
Organiser: Associate Professor Shankar Sankaran <shankar.sankaran@uts.edu.au>
Aim: To formulate strategies to establish an international community of inquiry and practice of professional organisations interested in 'Spirituality at the Workplace'.
Abstract and Overview:
The purpose of this PDW is to gather members of the Academy who have an interest in the development and growth of spirituality at the workplace with an intention to formulate strategies to establish communities of inquiry and practice among organizations interested in Spirituality at the Workplace around the World. The idea for this PDW was born at the First International Faith and Spirit at Work Conference organised at the Tyson Centre for Faith and Spirituality in the Workplace at the University of Arkansas in November 2011 where several members of Academy from the MSR interest group as well as the International Association for Management, Spirituality, and Religion expressed an interest to advance their collaboration and common interests.
The workshop will take the form of presentations by MSR members about projects/activities that they are involved in related to spirituality at the workplace. The presenters will also provide information about what is happening around the World to promote Spirituality at the Workplace. This will be followed by an invited talk on how to set up Communities of Inquiry. The participants will then be involved in a facilitated workshop to set up a community of inquiry. The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion formulating action plans to establish an international community of inquiry of professional organizations with an interest in Spirituality at the Workplace.
