The Practice Theme Committee is hosting a unique event: the screening of an award-winning documentary film entitled FIRE IN THE BLOOD, plus the chance to dialogue about the film with the CEO of Cipla. Although it has won awards at the Mumbai International Film Festival 2014, the first-ever Political Film Prize at Filmfest Hamburg, and 2013 Justice Matters Award at the 27th Washington DC International Film Festival, the film has not been widely shown in the US, so this is a rare opportunity. Distinguished Speaker: Subhanu Saxena; CEO, Cipla
"Fire in the Blood" is an award-winning documentary about how the Indian pharmaceutical company Cipla defied conventional corporate norms to work with a unique coalition of doctors, politicians, and journalists and succeeded in lowering the cost of AIDS drugs to under $1/day in Africa. Cipla Managing Director and Global CEO Subhanu Saxena will be present to participate in a Q&A about pharmaceuticals and the questions raised by the film. Mr. Saxena is a highly accomplished global executive, with experience over the last 25+ years in Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia.
