Dear MSR folks and others –
The AOM proposal submission deadline draws rapidly near (January 13, 2015, 5:00 pm, New York time) but there is still plenty of time to get a submission number for that proposal (how about today?) and then to send in the proposal before the deadline passes (how about by January 13, 2015, 4:59 pm, New York time? --- oops, better be careful, sometimes the submission process gets a bit clogged up at the last minute.)
To jog your memory if you have not yet submitted the maximum of three proposals for the scholarly program (and don’t forget to submit to the MSR PDW program –it has the same deadlines), here is a reminder:
MSR STILL enthusiastically requests your paper and symposia submissions for the Scholarly Program of the 75th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM) in Vancouver, British Columbia, August 7-11, 2015.
The theme is “opening governance” and we welcome proposals on that theme – and, of course, on any other topic you are enthusiastic about. AND we encourage you to interpret that “opening governance” theme very broadly and creatively… Feel encouraged “to open up ‘opening governance’”.
AND let us remind you that the Academy wants us (at least on my interpretation) to be bold and innovative in presenting our sessions and in the topics we choose for the scholarly program (and for the PDWs, of course). We would particularly like to have a bunch of symposia attractive to other divisions and interest groups and that break down the silos that may unintentionally exist between our domains. So, please suggest some wild topics and some wild ways to make them happen in Vancouver… And some unusual partners.
Collaborating with others to submit a number of papers that, together, form a coherent session is a great idea. Combining the work of a number of presenters into a symposium is another excellent idea. Some description of possible types of symposia is attached as “additional information on symposia submissions.”
If you have any questions about how to proceed or would like coaching on any topic or approach, please feel most welcome to contact me directly: phone, mobile, skype, email, snail-mail – all below in my long signature. And I am sure other colleagues in MSR or the Academy would be equally happy to help you.
HERE ARE THE STANDARD SUBMISSION REMINDERS:
Please follow the guidelines at the AOM submission site when submitting your fully developed proposal to ensure your work is reviewed. Papers and symposia that are not prepared according to formatting instructions can NOT be reviewed.
Papers and symposia are to be submitted through the AOM website at:
http://aom.org/annualmeeting/submission. Please refer to the AOM Scholarly Submission Guidelines before submitting multiple papers (please watch especially for “the rule of 3 +3”).
I am looking forward to catching as much of your session in Vancouver as my own schedule will allow me to attend.
Warm regards,
Jim.
