We have a great PDW that should be of interest to MSR folks (although sponsored by SIM):
Certified B Corps and organizations that are incorporated under Benefit Corporation statutes are growing in number and influence, as business increasingly focuses on purpose and profit. This PDW will highlight the growing role of such organizations and includes a practitioner panel of B Corp pioneers. One of our panelists is the founder of the Compensation Venture Group, a certified B Corp which provides consulting to organizations endeavoring to become more holistic in their approach to employee compensation; another panelist has written the legislation that over 30 states have adopted allowing for this organizational structure. Please see details below – we would love to have you join us!

The role of business in society is in flux. With the emergence and growth of concepts such as CSR, Sustainability, corporate citizenship, philanthropy, supply-chain/life-cycle analysis; global social-impact reporting standards, PRME, Global Compact, social-enterprise, MBA Oaths, it appears that the world has higher and higher expectations for business. Amidst these myriad efforts the b-corp model seems to be gaining momentum. This PDW will 1) provide the history of the b-corp model (both voluntary and legislative), 2) outline the certification process, 3) dive into the details of b-corp and benefit-corporations assessment models, and 4) expose participants to some real world b-corps. The outcomes will be that participants get up to speed on this emerging business trend AND so have an opportunity to consider how b-corp cases and examples can be integrated into their curriculum and scholarship.
