    Dear MSR members:

As we've all gotten busy, I see that I should re-send a posting from last month, as follows...I thought we might do well to hear a bit more from those individuals who get involved in MSR as non-academic professionals. So I've asked two members to do a bit of self-introduction and offer some personal views on membership motivation and participation.

One person we all ought to know, because she keeps the Listserv current and has helped with MSR IT matters for some time: Kay Rudisill. Whatever you read here, she has enabled to appear. The other is Margo Rose, who seems to have abruptly come upon MSR this past Academy conference: a new member.

Rather than take up more space, I'll welcome them to listserve and ask if they'd address the following, as they wish:

    - a bit of self-introduction about you do professionally,
    - what it is that first attracted you to MSR involvement in the Academy of Management (of all places....), and
    - what keeps this involvement current for you?

For those of us into MSR/AOM submissions research and crafting, Kay and Margo may help clarify thought and keep us focused.

    Best,
    Charlie Tackney

    Hi Charlie,

thank you for the invitation to participate and your patience as I missed the previous post.

I am currently employed by Pacific Gas & Electric Company, located in California. I lead a small team known as Enterprise Change Office, providing the operational support (methodology, tools, development) for the team of change practitioners actively engaged on complex initiatives.

My involvement in AOM (and by extension MSR) is primarily for selfish enjoyment ! Meaning I purposefully sought out "a place" where people are trying to figure things out (aka research) because I want to know what is being discovered (uncovered, connected, integrated) - for the pleasure of knowing.

I chose MSR as one of my interests because I'm on a spiritual quest. And I'm paid to manage and develop people. So it seemed an obvious choice : )

The MSR sessions I attended in August have been the topics of conversation with ALL of my friends, not an exaggeration. While I seek knowledge for personal enjoyment, I also know that my learning informs my daily efforts and offers me opportunities to connect with others to achieve desired outcomes.

    Kindest regards,
    Margo
