    ·        Join a PDW aimed at creating a community of scholars around transforming curriculum in business schools

     

    ·         Scholars in MSR, MED and OBTC have been pioneers in creating transformative curricula.  Some approaches explicitly include spirituality, others are entirely secular, but all seek to stimulate students to reflect deeply on big questions of life – such as, discovering a sense of meaning and purpose, articulating core values and discerning how to live a life of integrity.

    Three academics compare approaches to transformative curricula in very different cultural environments -- from explicitly Christian to resolutely secular.

     

    Inner challenges of leadership in the face of uncertainty and complexity: transcending the crucible of anxiety – Ricardo Levy, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur shares the importance of inner resources in contemporary leadership, and lessons that can be incorporated into transformational curriculum.

    Meditation and Mindfulness in Teaching Leadership moderated by Daniel Harris with panelists Bertrand Bouhour (Georgetown), Chris Reina (Virginia Commonwealth), and Tim O'Casey (former Director of the John Main Center).

     

    How do meditation and mindfulness help business schools prepare leaders?  Three distinct approaches will be offered, followed by an open discussion -- questions, critiques, proposed best practices and possible research on impact.

     

    Business Schools and the Inner Life: A Contradiction in Terms?  Jody Fry (Texas A&M – Central Texas) with panelists Lasse Lychnell, and Emma Strenström (Stockholm Schools of Economics)

     

    Panelists will compare experiences in stimulating students from two very different demographics to reflect on the big questions of life.  They will consider the appropriate role of business schools in addressing the inner lives of students, and then open the floor for sharing of other experiences, concerns and best practices.

     

    Spirits Fly Under the Radar: Teaching Spirituality When Nobody is Looking -- Lessons, Encouragements, Warnings.  Moderated by Dr. Martin Steinbereitner (Wirtschaftsuniversitaet, Vienna) with panelists, Dr. Wolfgang Mayrhofer (Wirtschaftsuniversitaet, Vienna), and Dr. Kathryn Pavlovich (U of Waikato, NZ)
