    Dear MSR colleagues:

If you are working on papers, symposium, PDW or other offerings for 2018, it is usually good to have a look at the statistics from last year. These are below, which you can copy past to word and see in better detail.

There comes a time in crafting submissions when doubts develop about how much time we have left, whether the effort is worth it, and where our work "belongs." Paying attention to the annual acceptance rates per division / interest group (DIG) can help clarify thought.

You can check the different calls of specific DIGs, and be sure to begin your offerings to the readers with inspired reference to what the AOM calls are inviting us to address.

We had 61 (37 accepted) papers submitted last year. There were four symposium (four accepted). < my goodness, 100%! >. We saw 13 PDW submits (seven acceptances).

The more submissions we receive, the more we become able to accept, so do think to get something in to one of these categories. Maybe three somethings. Did you have a paper that didn't make it last year, but had interesting and useful reviewer comments? A bit of fun research started, but stalled in your "To Do" folder? Maybe a few days of work is all such an item requires for a clever re-targeting to MSR.

Let's keep at it and offer the max out to the Rule of Three; help grow the Interest Group. I'm having at papers, too, if restricted from MSR submits this year, so may be muse be with us all.

    Best,
    Charlie
