Greetings:
A brief reminder for AOM 2018 MSR Scholarly and PDW submissions and volunteerism seems a cheery way to mark the day. First, 90% of submissions for the conference are filed in the last week prior to deadline. Please do think to see through to submission whatever you may be working on. We are a global community of scholars all focused on a shared goal, no minor thing, this. And do think to offer something to the PDW sessions (I'm cheering for Stacie and her task, the PDW chair, here).
Consider papers / PDW at the margins: items you've worked on, or items that 'enjoyed' a reject. Often these have perspectives of value that minor revisions can correct, fairly easily, with a bit of efficiency. And while scholarly papers have a maximum length, there are no obligations to hit that maximum. A short story well told, in social science format, can matter in improving lives, including your own.
AOM reviewer feedback can be as good as it gets, offering suggestions that can lead us down a year's worth of work or more, to improve a paper not quite ready for prime time, or start a new research thread. We know that the MSR submission statistics do matter and that the numbers directly impact the viability of the MSR Interest Group. If MSR is to thrive as a collective effort to improve society, culture, and organizations, we simply need these numbers. MSR will benefit from your scholarly help.
Reviewers are needed for that quality evaluation of what is submitted. Remember that Associate Editors - those who perform a quality check on the reviews conducted - are not automatically renewed. You have to offer to do this MSR service on an annual basis. I'll try to reach out to those who did this last year in a separate email, if I can manage the AOM Program data access.
Enjoy the day, quickly!
