Hello All MSR Listserv Participants,
THOUGHT THIS COULD BE OF INTEREST TO YOU..... A LETTER FROM JIM STONER - Chair of MSR Election Committee.
MSR Members can nominate themselves or others. You need to be a member to nominate and vote. If you are not a current member of MSR we hope you will join now.
Information about how to Join MSR is at the bottom. Best wishes, Mary Finney, MST Chair
February 9, 2018
Dear MSR member,
We hope you are thriving.
We need your help in developing another excellent slate of candidates for the upcoming MSR elections this year
At the beginning of this week, AOM sent all members a message announcing that the AOM web-site: http://apps.aom.org/DivNomination is open for nominations for positions on all DIGs (Divisions and Interest Groups) of which you are a member. (If you did not receive that notification, please contact Jim, below, and he will try to find out what happened).
To help us develop an excellent list of candidates, please review the descriptions of the three MSR positions for which we will be electing people this year. As you do so, please think about who might be a good person to be in each position. Of course, we're looking for individuals who are interested in and eager to contribute to MSR and thus to AOM. As you think about promising candidates, please also consider nominating yourself for any position that appeals to you and in which you would like to serve.
You have until February 28 to nominate anyone you'd like to nominate, including yourself.
ONE IMPORTANT CAUTION, however. Once you hit the "submit button" for your nominations for MSR folks, you cannot go back to the MSR nominations window in the AOM site and add some more MSR nominations. So it would be good to have all the folks in mind you would like to nominate when you go to the MSR nominations window, ditto for any other DIGs to which belong.
If you have any questions about the process or about any of the positions open for nominations, please feel most welcome to contact the selection committee listed below, or anybody on the MSR executive committee. The executive committee members are listed with contact information https://msr.aom.org/index.php/msr-executive-committee/
POSITIONS OPEN FOR NOMINATIONS
1.
PDW CHAIR (A five year commitment)
The individual elected each year as the "PDW Chair" assumes a set of key leadership positions in MSR for the next five years. The person elected serves the first year as MSR's PDW Coordinator (also called PDW Chair), the next year: MSR Program Chair. Year 3: MSR Chair-Elect. Year 4: MSR Chair. And year 5: MSR-Past Chair. Information on each of these five positions is available in MSR's bylaws in sections 4.3.2 through 4.3.6 on aom.org.
If you know of somebody who has the academic and leadership skills to make an important series of contributions to MSR, please be sure to nominate that person, or those persons
2.
Treasurer
The individual elected as MSR's Treasurer serves for three years as our "chief financial officer," overseeing MSR's budget and expenditures and being responsible to the membership for proper management of all expenses and activities of the interest group. Additional details on the Treasurer's job are available in MSR's bylaws – in section 4 where all positions are described.
3.
Representative-at-large for Community Building and Membership Development.
The individual elected in this position serves for three years as our leader for building relationships with and among MSR members, helps us serve our members especially well, and works with others to build and maintain our membership base. This position calls for creativity in uncovering innovative ways to serve our membership and a high level of skill and energy in getting things done.
Folks you nominate must be members of MSR at the time of the nomination.
When nominations close, the nominating committee will contact nominees to determine if they are willing and able to stand for election and to assess the nominees' commitment to MSR, as demonstrated through a history of service to and involvement in the work of MSR. We will post for elections two or three candidates for each position.
Thank you for your help.
Warm regards,
Jim
