Dear all,
The one question survey on what would best serve MSR's future between 1) remaining an Interest Group, 2) becoming an AOM Division, 3) merging with another interest group or 4) dissolving the interest group, closed on Saturday January 2023.
Two hundred and fourteen (214) members participated, representing 39% of MSR total membership (15% required by AOM).
Two hundred (200) of these participants voted for MSR gaining Division status, representing 93.5% of the respondents (66% required by AOM) and 36% of MSR total membership.
Ten members expressed the wish to remain as an interest group and 3 people believe the IG should merge with another division. One respondent voted to dissolve the IG.
For the MSR Executive team to request AOM Division status, thresholds of both membership participation and support must be met, which is overwhelmingly the case today.
Gaining Division status depends on several other variables, such as representing a distinct and established field of research, demonstrating quality research as published in respected journals and offering both strategic direction for developing the field as well as relevant membership services.
We are confident MSR has the maturity and governance structures to be an AOM division, though this is not ours to decide!
The 5-year review and Division status application will be submitted as of February 3rd to the DIGR Committee (Division Interest Groups Relations). . We should receive its response somewhere between two to three months later. Of course we will keep you informed of the timeline and the results.
The MSR Executive Committee, 5-year review Committee and Flamekeepers Committee all extend a very warm thank you to all the MSR members who participated in the survey and to those who supported the Executive team's initiative to grow MSR's legitimacy and presence within AOM.
