    Dear Colleagues,

The MSR Teaching and Learning Committee invites you to an engaging webinar, Giving Voice to Values: An Interactive Presentation, that introduces a curriculum for teaching ethics and involves participants in small-group case study discussions. Originally designed by Darden Professor Mary Gentile in collaboration with the Aspen Institute of Leadership and the Yale School of Management, Giving Voice to Values bridges theory and practice in an experiential curriculum to move beyond hypothetical decision-making questions to support students in real-world ethical actions. Overarching questions are posed for individual and collective class contemplations: "What if I were to act on my values?  What would I say and do?  How could I be most effective?"

The Giving Voice to Values website description notes the project has been piloted in over 1,055 schools, companies, and organizations on seven continents. Much like athletes practicing their sport or artists engaging in their craft, tools and skills provide opportunities for students to script and voice their values with peers for practice and future implementation in the workplace. Social Science management research and actual real-world experiences of business practitioners are integrated into cases for impactful pedagogical lessons.

In our world today where individuals and leadership in profit, nonprofit, and public organizations can sometimes act in ways separate from and/or lacking conscious awareness of the impact of actions on others within community and on our collective humanity, this webinar workshop is grounded in a philosophical belief that curricula to engage students in learning experiences that inspire a deeper look internally and spiritually enhance personal and professional development. Greater self-awareness and enhanced emotional intelligence engender feelings of interconnectedness with all of life and inspire ethical actions for improve psychological and social well-being.

We are thrilled to host Brian Moriarty, Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and former Director of the Institute for Business and Society and the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics, to present background, research and theory and guide us in our Giving Voice to Values discussion. Brian has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business" by Trust Across America four times.

The webinar will be recorded and will be available on the MSR YouTube Channel at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/@MSR_AOM/featured

This webinar marks the first in a series of interactive webinar events organized by the MSR Teaching and Learning Committee. These events welcome exciting and distinguished educators, scholars, and practitioners in meaningful conversation and interactive engagements with our community and beyond and foster interdisciplinary and international discussions and connections with emerging ideas and practices in teaching and learning.

The webinars will be scheduled for varying times of day to ensure participants in different time zones have equitable opportunities to join.

    Best regards,

Academy of Management MSR Teaching and Learning Committee
