    Hi Everyone,

    Thank you to the Fetzer Scholars, senior MSR scholars, and participants from other communities who joined our discussion on Polarization last week. 

    Overview:

    This is an ongoing discussion group, co-hosted by Ian Mitroff and Judi Neal on the broad topic of "Global Consciousness and Social Challenges." Each bi-monthly meeting focuses on a particular social challenge and looks at how our research, teaching and activism can be informed by spirituality and global consciousness. This next conversation focuses on "Civics, Citizenship and Democracy.

    This group is sponsored by the Management, Spirituality and Religion (MSR) interest group at the Academy of Management, and by the Global Consciousness Institute. This event is open to all, whether or not you are a member of MSR.

    Description and Questions:

    Many of us took courses on civics in secondary school and then never gave civics another thought. But with democracy being threatened around the world, it is time not only to learn more about our civic institutions, but to become actively involved. Here are some potential discussion questions:

    ·      In what ways is your work (research, teaching, activism) related to civics, citizenship and democracy?

    ·      If you are not currently doing work connected with civics, citizenship and democracy, is there something you wish you were doing?

    ·      In what ways is the MSR vision and mission* connected to civics, citizenship and democracy? What more could MSR do? If you are in another organization, how is your mission connected to civics, citizenship and democracy?

    ·      What is the connection between global consciousness and civics, citizenship and democracy?
