The Journal of Management, Spirituality & Religion (JMSR) invites submissions for a special issue on "The Spiritual Dimensions of Love in Leadership: Critical Perspectives, Shadow Aspects, and Integral Approaches." This special issue aims to delve into the profound, yet often overlooked, role of love in leadership, exploring how it shapes interpersonal, family, community, and societal connections.
Despite its powerful potential, love has received limited attention in leadership studies. This issue seeks to advance theoretical understanding beyond existing frameworks like altruistic love and compassion, which have been noted for potential risks when overemphasized. We encourage submissions that explore the ontological distinctions between the presence and absence of love in leadership, integrate multiple theoretical frameworks, and develop comprehensive theoretical frameworks that bridge secular and spiritual understandings of love. We aim to refine the theoretical understanding of love in terms of its conceptualization, operationalization, antecedents, and outcomes in relation to leadership dynamics. Full papers are due by September 30, 2025.
