Join us on Saturday, August 5th in Boston Marriott Copley Place Salon E for a thought-provoking presentation by Professor Edwina Pio, with reflections from a Fetzer Scholar panel, consisting of Dr. Tianyuan Yu, Dr. Nicole Dillard, Mr. Soumya Dutta, and Dr. Siddhartha Saxena.

Tiptoeing On Hot Coals: Startling Sacred Sins

For millennia, we have grappled with the ubiquitous fluidity of sacredness and sin.  Intertwining theories of sin and sacredness, I interrogate three sacred sins - the sin of color, the sin of othering, and the sin of diversity, equity and inclusion. Contributing to ongoing dialogues of subterranean thoughts and actions in the ambiguous contours of faith, the delicate balance of walking on hot coals will be illuminated through processes and experiences that infiltrate life in organizations and society. Approaching the three sins as explosive spaces which are created, perpetuated and inhabited, we journey together through how these sins can be startled to inspire, savor and enhance a spectrum of dignity, connectedness and abundance in our worlds. In a woven universe we are all interconnected, as structures and individuals in the diverse possibilities and nuanced realities of life and work.
