Dr. Coghlan's presentation will explore how first-person practice is grounded in the process of interiority, which involves shifting from what we know to how we know. As a process of intellectual self-awareness interiority provides a way of engaging with the different ways of knowing and acts as the process for a first-person spirituality of being scholar.

Dr. Culham's presentation will first discuss the important paradigmatic shift first person research represents in its orientation towards the subjective inner life as a source of valuable transformative knowledge. It will then draw on contemporary science and Daoist knowledge to discuss first-person research methods applicable in a western setting, and the outcomes that may be beneficial in research as well as for teachers and students.
