    Consciousness and Ethics

This session aims to explore the premise that development of higher consciousness individually and collectively is the primary driver of organizational and societal transformations. By bringing consciousness to the fore intellectually and experientially, MSR can contribute to paradigm shifts in the discipline of management. Two breakout discussions are planned to engage participants in interactive conversations. The first is to share personal stories about peak experiences and their transformative impact. The second is to develop researchable propositions about the relationship of consciousness development to management practice. Dr. Heaton will share a consciousness-based perspective from his chapter on "The Ethics of Enlightened Leaders".

Dr Dennis Heaton earned his EdD in educational leadership. His areas of research interest include consciousness, holistic health, peak performance, and higher stages of human development and their implications for leadership. Dr. Heaton is Dean of the College of Business and Professor of Management at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, USA. He has been directing PhD students' research in areas of socially and environmentally responsible business, including financial impacts of responsible management, sustainable ethnic tourism, the effects of green buildings on human resources, consumer attitudes toward genetically modified food, moral development and ethical decision-making in accountants, and the role of human resource management in implementing sustainability.
