Like our colleague, I am also looking for a collaborator (or two) who might be interested in helping to facilitate at PDW at the August meeting. Here is a basic description of what I am hoping to prepare:
- We can use narratives as a tool to help us in our professional (and personal) development
- Narratives involve both facts and symbols
- Can we give people practice thinking about symbols to incorporate into their narraitves that are driven by their spiritual reflections and help them to constructive a narrative that will be at least as focused on fulfilling as advancement and earning?
I see this as something that begins by looking like it could be of interest to the Careers divions with some information about the importance of narrative in one's career development.
- Narrative to transmit information
- Narrative to help us to prioritize
- Narrative that can provide a North Star while being a bit malleable
Then, tie-in spirituality in two ways:
- How do see see our spirituality in our narrative-particularly as it applies to professional development
- How do we use spiritual practices to think about our narrative-either the focus or the needed change
It would include some introduction, some open large group discussion, some individual work, sharing in a small group, and bringing it back to a large group. Highly interactive. Lots of "doing".
If anyone might want to join to work on this, please let me know.
